At the Irish Refugee Council, we provide a range of services and support as well as advocate for people seeking protection and refugees.

Through our Information and Advocacy Service, Law Centre, Housing, Ukraine Response, Education, Employment, Youth Work, Resettlement, Community Sponsorship, Policy and, Advocacy teams, we have tailored our services to meet the specific needs of newly arrived people to those granted status and working to rebuild their lives. The environment is changing fast and we have to continually adapt and innovate.

Homelessness

Homelessness is an issue that has also significantly altered our work and is threatening the wellbeing of the people seeking protection. Two years since the government stopped accommodating all people on arrival, over 3,300 people are without accommodation and over over 7,000 people have experienced homelessness for a period of time. The numbers keep growing.

We have provided critical information and advocated for 1,100 people.

Our Independent Law Centre took the State to court for violating the rights of homeless people seeking protection. The High Court found that the State had breached the applicants’ rights.
