Our Resettlement Work

We provide support to resettled refugees across the country. Our work promotes refugees’ rights and their integration. We work with individuals, families, and the local communities into which refugees have been resettled, to assist them in their transition and resettlement. We provide resettlement and intercultural training to staff, local communities, and refugees.

Advocacy

Resettled and relocated Syrian refugees are assisted in information about living in Ireland and advocacy for family reunification and accessing housing.

Integration

Identifying the particular needs of refugees resettled in Ireland both during the initial orientation period in Emergency Reception and Orientation Centres and after transfer to more long-term accommodation around the country.

Assistance and support

Provide a direct service to resettled refugees where there is an absence of support from local organisations, particularly in relation to family reunification.

Research and training

To identify the practice and policy trends arising from work with resettled refugees and propose ways in which the IRC should engage in the monitoring and development of better practice in relation to refugee resettlement.

To gather information about best practice on refugee resettlement in other EU states and outside of the EU, in particular in the USA & Canada and develop policy positions for the IRC on refugee resettlement.

Financial support

Pobal's Scheme to Support National Organisations support the salary of our Resettlement Officer.
