Aoife joined the IRC in 2016 as a youth worker. In 2023, her duties were expanded to education. As Youth and Education Officer, Aoife’s role involves engaging directly with young people aged 16-25 through creative youth projects, group work, one-to-one support, and supporting students into Further and Higher Education. The roles align with her passion for widening access to education and supporting young people’s agency, active participation, and empowerment.

Aoife has a BA in Modern Foreign Languages, an MA in International Education and Development, and a PGDip in Youth Work. She is currently undertaking a PhD at UCC on the policy and practice of age assessments and is a UCC PhD Excellence Scholar. Aoife is a board member of the Kerry Diocesan Youth Service. Before joining IRC, Aoife worked with refugees on the Thailand-Myanmar border as a trainer, facilitator, and researcher. She has two small kids and a very overgrown garden.
