Claire joined the Irish Refugee Council in May 2016 as Information and Referral Advocacy Service Manager Coordinator, having previously completed a casework internship with the organisation between 2010 and 2011. 

Claire currently works as a Solicitor within the IRC’s Independent Law Centre, providing legal representation to clients at various stages of the international protection process and related matters.

She also works closely with LGBT Ireland, supporting their peer support group, ‘Is Rainbow Muid,’ for LGBTI+ people seeking international protection in Ireland. In 2022, Claire co-authored a report entitled ‘Believe me or not but I am who I am,’ which explored the lived experience of LGBTI+ applicants in engaging with the international protection process in Ireland.

Before working with us, Claire worked overseas with the UN in Zimbabwe, with Irish Aid in Sierra Leone, and within the Human Rights Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Claire is a Law and German graduate from University College Cork and holds an MSc in Humanitarian Action from University College Dublin. She also holds a Certificate in Human Rights Law from the Law Society of Ireland.
